What is Psychotherapy?
When it comes to deep-rooted issues, long-term psychotherapy provides a safe and supportive environment to explore and conquer the past.
Psychotherapy is like counselling except that in psychotherapy the issues that people come with and work on, have usually built up over a longer period of time. Often the issues that people bring to psychotherapy stem from childhood.
Although each session in psychotherapy is similar in time to a counselling session, the duration of time people stay in psychotherapy, due to the deep- rooted issues being worked on, is often significantly longer. The longer time required in Psychotherapy often leads to a deeper, stronger relationship between client and therapist which provides the foundation for difficult and long-standing issues to be explored with a greater sense of safety.
A Psychotherapist’s training is usually longer and more in depth than that of a Counsellor. Psychotherapists are specifically trained to work with chronic and more difficult problems and will have undergone may years therapy themselves as part of their training.
Just like all the psychological interventions provided by the CBT Clinic London, Psychotherapy is a collaborative process where your privacy and confidentiality is of paramount importance to us.
